Lakewood Ranch Florida | Guide to Schools
A major factor to consider when moving to a new area is the school district.
As a former school teacher, I understand how important it is to provide future generations with the best possible education. Families want to know what schools they will be sending their children to and how those schools rank against other schools in Florida and nationwide. |

Is it a good school?
School Ranking is a way for the state to determine how one school compares to another, is based on varying factors, and is a measure of how much improvement they make from one year to the next.
The Florida State Department of Education uses up to 11 components to determine a grade for each particular school.
The points earned for each component are added together and divided by the total number of available points to determine the percentage of points earned.
School Grading Percentages
• A = 62% of points or greater
• B = 54% to 61% of points
• C = 41% to 53% of points
• D = 32% to 40% of points
• F = 31% of points or less
Schools must test 95 percent of their students.
We encourage you to visite the Florida Department of Education website -CLICK HERE- which breaks down each school within each district and displays the grade that school has received by the Department of Education. You can utilize this tool to cross reference the schools that your potential home is zoned to and get a better picture of the overall performance, as determined by the state.
